I believe in Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, and LG’s new soundbar and speakers bring a new level of convenience to immersive audio.

  • LG will unveil its Sound Suite Dolby Atmos FlexConnect speakers at CES
  • Options include the H7 soundbar, M7 and M7 speakers and a W7 subwoofer
  • The H7 is the first FlexConnect soundbar and can be used with any TV

The system performs a quick and easy calibration step and you can enjoy Atmos surround sound without having to reconfigure your furniture, run cables or buy any special accessories. At least that’s the theory.

LG H7 soundbar and wireless M7 and M5 speakers

LG is not the first company to market a FlexConnect system. That role rests with TCL, which launched its TCL Z100 Dolby Atmos FlexConnect speakers and subwoofers earlier this year. Although TCL’s Z100 speakers are only compatible with 2025 Mini LED TVs, LG gives you more options.

LG FlexConnect speakers can be connected to compatible LG TVs, but the new FlexConnect-compatible LG H7 soundbar works with any TV. The H7 is a beast with twenty speakers, four built-in woofers, eight passive bass radiators and three dedicated top light units.

Whether you’re using an LG TV or an H7 as a Dolby Atmos FlexConnect hub (or “head unit”), you can choose between two models of wireless FlexConnect speakers: the M5, a mono speaker with a front-driven tweeter and bass combo and an Atmos height channel effect speaker, or the larger M7, a two-speaker stereo unit with a full-range woofer and a speaker.

The LG FlexConnect W7 subwoofer can be used with any of these arrangements. It produces the deepest bass of any LG subwoofer (down to 25.9 Hz, according to the company) through an 8-inch driver and can be mounted horizontally or vertically.

LG’s Dolby Atmos FlexConnect system is also more versatile than TCL’s when it comes to maximum number of speakers. The TCL Mini LED TV only supports a total of four FlexConnect Z100 speakers, including the Z100-SW subwoofer. The LG, on the other hand, can control four speakers and a subwoofer, for a total of five wireless devices. Depending on the model and number of speakers, an LG FlexConnect system can deliver as many as 13.1.7 channels.

As mentioned above, automatic room calibration is standard for Dolby Atmos FlexConnect systems, but LG has gone a step further with its Sound Follow feature. With the LG ThinQ app, you can adjust the room settings based on your specific seating position.

LG’s 2026 premium TVs will launch with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect functionality, but owners of LG’s 2025 C- and G-series OLED TVs will also benefit from the technology via a planned firmware update.

LG Sound Suite: a more flexible FlexConnect alternative?

In August, I had the opportunity to listen to TCL’s Z100-based Dolby Atmos FlexConnect system. I appreciated the level of cinematic immersion it offered thanks to just three satellite speakers and a subwoofer, but I was particularly impressed by its ability to play Dolby Atmos music.

So should we have high expectations for the LG Sound Suite? Given that LG has far more experience than TCL in developing Dolby Atmos home theater sound systems (LG’s flagship Atmos soundbar systems, like the LG S95TR, are consistently among our most recommended systems), I expect LG’s FlexConnect implementation to perform as well as, and perhaps better than, an equivalent TCL setup.

Where LG will have an advantage is in soundbar-based FlexConnect systems. LG’s H7 soundbar might be a better option, especially if it comes with four M7 speakers and a W7 sub. Of course, none of this comes cheap.

TCL’s Z100 speakers retail for $400 each, and judging by the specs, the price may be lower for the M5, but possibly higher for the M7. I wouldn’t be surprised if the final 13.1.7 package (one H7, four M7s, one W7) ended up costing almost $3000 (about £2250 / AU$4500).
