- iPhone 18 may have a camera under the screen
- This is a feature that has been talked about for years.
- Apple is currently testing this change
All the new iPhones released this year are already behind us. The focus is therefore on 2026 and the future iPhone 18. The latest rumors suggest that this model may finally introduce a selfie camera under the screen.
According to the famous leaker. smart pikachu (sent by Wccftech) Apple is said to be testing this technology for its iPhone 18, which could reduce or even eliminate the notch on the screen.
This information is not new: the integration of an under-display camera for the iPhone has been a topic of discussion for years. Maybe 2026 is finally the right year, although nothing is certain right now.
Other sources also mention the inclusion of an under-display Face ID system for future models, adding to the credibility of this leak. There are also signs that Apple is slowly but surely moving towards a completely bezel-less iPhone.
Apple will not be first
Other smartphone manufacturers have followed this path for years. We especially remember the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 launched in 2021, which already offered a camera under the main 7.6-inch screen.
However, the quality of the sensor leaves something to be desired and Samsung has clearly put this technology aside for the time being. All Galaxy released in 2025 will once again use classic selfie cameras, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Apple doesn’t always try to be the first to adopt an innovation, but often manages to integrate new technology better than its competitors. Touch ID and Face ID are two good examples, and a possible foldable iPhone could follow this logic.
Some informed sources also suggest that Apple could revise its launch plan next year. The Pro models are expected to be unveiled in September, while the standard version of the iPhone 18 will launch in March 2026. With these announcements, all attention is likely to be on the cameras.
