Nvidia is betting billions on the Nokia 6G to dominate with artificial intelligence

  • Nvidia and Nokia announce important strategic partnership
  • RAN technologies and 6G networks are among the most important areas of development
  • The deal also includes a $1 billion investment from Nvidia in Nokia.

Nvidia has formalized a multibillion-dollar investment in Nokia with the aim of playing a central role in the development of artificial intelligence-enabled networks.

This amount will cover a wide range of projects, from 5G Advanced to future 6G networks, designed to meet the enormous demands of AI workloads.

As part of this collaboration, Nvidia’s AI-RAN products will be integrated into Nokia’s RAN offering, accelerating the development and deployment of next-generation networks.

From 5G to 6G

in one blog article Announcing the news, the two companies said the partnership “ushers in an era of AI-native mobile networks” and will lay the groundwork for offering AI-powered connected services to individuals and businesses at the edge of the network.

“Telecommunications is a critical national infrastructure—the digital nervous system of our economy and security,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia.

“Based on Nvidia CUDA and artificial intelligence, AI-RAN will revolutionize telecommunications – a technological paradigm shift that will enable the US to regain global leadership in this strategic area. With Nokia and the US telecommunications ecosystem, a new generation of intelligent, adaptive networks is in the making, poised to redefine global connectivity.”

To support these technological advances, Nvidia introduced Aerial RAN Computer Pro (ARC-Pro), an accelerated computing platform for network equipment manufacturers and suppliers that combines connectivity, computing power and sensing capabilities.

This technology will enable them to develop AI-RAN products, both on commercial hardware and on proprietary architectures, and will facilitate the transition from 5G Advanced to 6G networks.
