Samsung has just unveiled the beta version of One UI 8.5, the latest mobile UI update for Samsung’s flagship phones. In addition to accidentally leaking the Galaxy S26’s design, this update also brings a host of new features and updates, as well as improvements to “productivity, privacy and performance across the entire Galaxy ecosystem,” Samsung says.
In a blog post announcing the update, Samsung said One UI 8.5 beta “brings new, easier ways to create, connect and stay.” This is reflected in a number of improvements that should be welcome reading for Samsung fans.
According to Samsung, the update brings many improvements to creating content on your Samsung Galaxy device. By upgrading to Photo Assist, you can “continuously generate new images”, meaning you can edit multiple images without having to save them all and review your changes at the end of the process. Additionally, Quick Share has been updated to detect people in photos and suggest sending the photos directly to the subjects.
In terms of connectivity, audio streaming functionality has been improved, allowing you to send your voice to a connected speaker while on the phone. Additionally, the storage sharing feature lets you view files on other Galaxy devices in the My Files app, giving you quick access to your documents if they’re stored elsewhere.
Samsung’s blog post also discusses security improvements, including Failed Authentication Lock, which automatically locks the screen if someone makes too many incorrect login attempts with a fingerprint, PIN or password. Identity verification also protects more settings than before, ensuring greater security whether your device falls into the wrong hands or not.
How to get One UI 8.5 beta
If you want to try the latest One UI 8.5 beta, you need to have a compatible device and be in the right place, at least for now.
Samsung says that the beta version of One UI 8.5 will initially be available to users of the Galaxy S25 Review" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung Galaxy S25 series. Also, it is currently only available for download in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, UK and US. It is available starting today, December 8, 2025.
Registration in the Samsung beta program is also required. To register, download Samsung membership application Download it from the Google Play Store, open it, and then sign in with your Samsung account. Join the beta program via the banner at the top of the app, then go to your phone’s settings and go to Software Update > Download and Install to get the latest beta version on your phone.
As always, beta software can be buggy, so it’s a good idea to install it on a secondary phone that isn’t your daily driver. Also, make sure to back up your phone before you start.
