Samsung One UI 8 (based on Android 16) has been rolling out to Galaxy devices for months, but the next big update is already underway in the form of One UI 8.5, and many of the new features have already been leaked.
A UI 8.5 has not been officially released yet, but all indications are that Samsung will launch a beta program later this year before the final version is released to its smartphones and tablets in 2026.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is likely to be the first to benefit from this, but the list of other compatible devices is currently unknown. While we await the release of One UI 8.5, here are five of the most credible new features mentioned in the leaks.
1. Priority messages
An 8.5 UI would allow for better prioritization of notifications, which would be especially useful given the large number of notifications smartphones receive every day.

On the filtered image editing page @tarunvats33 discovered yet another integration of the Object Eraser tool into the generative editing workflow of the Samsung Gallery app that came pre-installed on Galaxy devices.
This is nothing new, just a simple interface change: the object removal tool can be used faster with the generative edit button (flashing star icon).
4. Adaptive data storage
Still in One UI 8.5 code, Android Authority I discovered a feature called “Adaptive Data Saver”. According to the name and the accompanying lines of code, this feature would prevent videos from being automatically uploaded to social networks and would only be activated on demand.
An interesting option for users with a limited price or an unstable connection. However, based on the initial information, no reduction in video quality or bitrate is expected in most cases.
5. Landscape format for the side panel
