LG C5 OLED TV: What We Know So Far

Overview of LG’s Mid-Range OLED TV

The LG C5 OLED TV, part of LG’s 2025 lineup, was unveiled at CES 2025. While details remain scarce, initial reports suggest it will have minimal changes compared to its predecessor, the LG C4. Expect improvements in brightness, processing, and a new version of the webOS platform, webOS 25.

The LG C4 earned praise in 2024 for its excellent contrast, array of features, and multiple size options. It marked a notable upgrade over the LG C3. While early impressions of the C5 indicate a bright display, its overall look appears similar to the C4. Full reviews will follow once we get hands-on with it.

LG C5 OLED TV: Pricing and Release Date

Though official pricing and release dates are still pending, based on historical trends, we can estimate the launch timeframe and price range. The C4 series launched in March 2024, with slight price hikes over the C3 models. Here’s a rough estimate for the C5 pricing:

ModelEstimated PriceUSUKAU
OLED83C583-inch$5,499£6,099AU$8,099
OLED77C577-inch$3,799£3,899AU$6,099
OLED65C565-inch$2,799£2,799AU$4,399
OLED55C555-inch$2,099£1,999AU$3,299
OLED48C548-inch$1,699£1,599AU$2,599
OLED42C542-inch$1,599£1,499AU$2,299

Expect a price increase over the C4, largely due to inflation, and a possible launch in March or April 2025, in line with LG’s typical release schedule.

LG C5 OLED TV: Features

The C5 will retain the same OLED Evo panel as the C4, excluding the hoped-for micro lens array panel (MLA). While we don’t anticipate a significant brightness jump, there is a chance for a slight increase. Speculation suggests the C5 could reach a peak brightness of 1,225 nits, a 15% improvement over the C4.

Key features include the Alpha A9 AI Processor Gen8, which powers the new AI features of webOS 25. This includes AI Search, AI Concierge, and an upgraded version of the AI Chatbot. The C5 also allows for custom user profiles, enhancing content recommendations and picture settings.

As for gaming, the C5 will likely inherit the gaming features from the C4, including:

  • Four HDMI 2.1 ports (supporting 4K at 144Hz)
  • Dolby Vision Gaming, VRR, AMD FreeSync, Nvidia G-Sync
  • HGiG, ALLM support

While it won’t support 165Hz like the LG G5, the C5 remains a top-tier option for gaming.

What We Still Need to Know

Key details still to be confirmed include:

  • Built-in audio system: The C4 featured a 2.2-channel Dolby Atmos setup. It’s likely the C5 will carry this over, though an upgrade—such as a built-in subwoofer—could be on the horizon.
  • Detailed speaker specifications: Will LG enhance the audio experience further?

The C4’s audio quality was adequate, but pairing it with a high-quality soundbar was recommended for the best experience. We’ll need to see if the C5 brings any upgrades in this area.

The LG C5 OLED TV will bring incremental upgrades over the C4, including improved brightness, AI features, and continued gaming excellence. Pricing and release details are still speculative, but we expect a launch in early 2025. For now, we’ll have to wait for the official specs and further reviews.
