I’ve been testing some of the latest Dolby Atmos soundbars, and a few of them are truly impressive. These devices can deliver powerful, immersive audio that turns your living room into a full-on home cinema.
Whether you’re upgrading your setup or buying your first soundbar, choosing the right one can be overwhelming. There are plenty of great options out there—and just as many that fall short.
To help you out, I’ve narrowed it down to three Dolby Atmos soundbars I can confidently recommend.
Each pick suits a different need:
- A soundbar and subwoofer combo for balanced performance
- An affordable all-in-one model for budget-conscious buyers
- A premium multi-speaker system for full surround sound
These options cover a range of budgets and room sizes, so there’s something here for everyone.
Let’s dive into my top three picks.
Table of Contents
1. Samsung HW-Q800D
The Samsung HW-Q800D is a powerful 5.1.2 soundbar and subwoofer combo. It fills your room with rich, immersive sound that brings movies and games to life.
When I tested it, I was impressed by its Dolby Atmos and DTS:X performance. Dialogue was crystal clear, and the feature set was packed with useful extras.
Some standout features include:
- Q-Symphony: Syncs with your Samsung TV’s speakers for a wider soundstage.
- SpaceFit Surround Pro: Automatically adjusts audio to suit your room.
- Game Mode Pro: Enhances sound for a more immersive gaming experience on consoles like the PS5.
I used the HW-Q800D in my apartment for about six months. I loved the sound quality, but the subwoofer was a bit much for my space. Eventually, I switched to the all-in-one Marshall Heston 120.
That said, if you have a medium or large room—and no downstairs neighbors—the subwoofer adds serious impact. Explosions rumble, bass hits deep, and movie nights feel like a trip to the cinema.
Even better, you don’t have to pay full price. The HW-Q800D launched at $999 / £749 / AU$1,099, but I’ve seen it on sale for under £550 in the UK. It’s a great time to grab a deal.

2. Sony HT-S2000
If you’re shopping on a budget, the Sony HT-S2000 is a fantastic choice. It’s an all-in-one soundbar that supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, delivering surprisingly strong audio for its price.
This 3.1-channel bar uses Sony’s virtual surround tech to create an immersive soundstage. The Vertical Surround Engine lifts audio to screen level and above, while S-Force Pro Front Surround simulates surround effects from the sides of your room.
You won’t get deep, room-shaking bass since there’s no external subwoofer. Still, the built-in woofers perform well, especially for a compact, budget-friendly bar. During my time with it, I found the bass punchy and the dialogue impressively clear. You won’t need subtitles just to follow conversations.
The HT-S2000 launched at $499 / £449 / AU$695, but it often sells for much less now. I’ve seen it drop below $300 / £300, which is excellent value for what Sony delivers here.
3. JBL Bar 1300X
Last but not least, the JBL Bar 1300X is perfect if you want a full surround sound system right out of the box.
This 16-channel setup includes a main soundbar, a subwoofer, and two detachable, rechargeable surround speakers. It puts you right in the middle of the action. In the UK, it’s sold as the JBL Bar 1300 and comes with a slightly smaller subwoofer.
When we tested it, the Atmos effects were outstanding. It also impressed with:
- Four HDMI ports for flexible connectivity
- Clear, natural sound for both music and dialogue
- Deep, powerful bass and excellent build quality
- Plenty of wireless options for easy streaming
Yes, it launched at a premium price—$1,699 / £1,299 / around AU$2,570. But prices have dropped. I’ve seen it go for as low as £900 in the UK, which is a fantastic deal for one of the best soundbars available.
