Laptop manufacturers have increasingly moved towards soldered components, making upgrades nearly impossible. However, Framework’s modular laptops defy this trend. The company has unveiled a new version of its Framework Laptop 13, tailored for businesses and professionals.

This version includes Intel Core Ultra Series 1 processors, new mainboards, support for up to 96GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 9.2MP webcam. Additionally, it boasts a 13.5-inch 2.8k (2880×1920) 120 Hz display, originally designed for another company.

The new Framework 13 comes with a 3-year warranty and is available for pre-order now, starting at $1099. Shipments begin this August. Meanwhile, prices for the AMD Ryzen 7040 Series version have been reduced, with pre-built systems now starting at $949 and the DIY Edition at $799.

Unexpectedly high demand from IT managers has been noted. “We designed the Framework Laptop 13 to last and aim to improve it annually,” said Nirav Patel, Framework’s CEO.

This year, the focus is on enhancing the end-to-end experience for all customers. The laptop is ideal for Linux and Windows, allowing businesses to embrace repairable, customizable computing. The software pipeline has also been revamped, with regular firmware and driver releases for each product.

New customization options have been introduced. An SD Expansion Card and four new colors of USB-C Expansion Cards are now available for pre-order.

Framework has observed significant demand from IT managers for longer-lasting, repairable computers. “Thousands of businesses are now switching fully to Framework Laptops,” said Patel. The Framework for Business program is expanding, offering configurations with a three-year extended limited warranty and Windows 11 Pro with Autopilot support out of the box.
