SAMSUNG QN90D: ANTICIPATED RELEASE DATE AND EXPECTED PRICING

Official details regarding the arrival date and cost of the Samsung QN90D are currently unavailable. Nevertheless, we can draw assumptions based on the precedent set by the Samsung QN90C.

Introduced at CES 2023 in January, the QN90C hit the shelves a few weeks later at the end of February 2023. It was available in six different sizes: 43, 50, 55, 65, 75, and 85 inches. At launch, the pricing for each size was as follows.

In terms of pricing and specifications, the QN90C falls between Samsung’s flagship QN95C and QN85C series, all part of the high-end, mini-LED backlit QLED TVs. Notably, the QN85C is less advanced, especially in audio, while the QN95C boasts a sleeker design.

Anticipating the QN90D, a comparable pricing strategy is expected, possibly with a slight reduction. One critique of the QN90C was its relatively high price compared to some mini-LED competitors like TCL or Hisense, which offer impressive brightness at a more affordable cost. While lacking certain features, these alternatives might appeal to customers with budget considerations.

Our experience testing the Samsung QN90C was delightful, earning it the title of “a bright mini-LED TV that looks good from any angle” in our review.

This TV is a standout choice for sports enthusiasts, with its high brightness levels ideal for daytime viewing and impressive motion handling to match the fast-paced action. Gamers also benefit from its four HDMI 2.1 ports supporting 4K 120Hz input, along with VRR and FreeSync Premium support.

Considering our wish list for the QN90D, the primary desire is simple: an enhancement of the QN90C’s strengths. While the QN90C had no major flaws, there’s room for improvement in Samsung’s next iteration.

During testing, we observed some backlight blooming, manifesting as “light halos around white-on-black movie titles and pinpoints of light in Starfield motion patterns.” Although these effects were minimal, addressing them in the QN90D would contribute to a more flawless picture.

Navigating smart menus and extensive settings proved less enjoyable, a commonality among premium TVs like the Samsung QN90C. Despite its support for HDR10, HLG, and HDR10+ HDR formats, the absence of Dolby Vision HDR is notable. While Dolby Vision HDR is widespread, Samsung’s reluctance to incorporate it remains frustrating.

Looking ahead, we anticipate Samsung building on its 2023 successes with the QN90D. Minor concerns aside, we hope for another feature-packed Neo QLED with high brightness, continuing Samsung’s trend of delivering cutting-edge features.
