- The DJI FlyCart 100 is a new transport drone designed for heavy loads
- It can carry up to 100 kg and reach a height of 6,000 meters.
- In addition, it is suitable for use in various demanding environments.
DJI drones may soon be banned from US soil, but that won’t stop the brand from introducing a new… and more important model. The Chinese giant has just unveiled its most powerful flying car to date: Impressive.
According to a statement from DJI, this drone could offer the next package, although that seems unlikely unless you live on the slopes of Everest or in the heart of a remote construction site. Because this model is specially developed to handle heavy loads under extreme conditions. And according to the technical sheet, only a few elements seem to oppose this. It could easily position itself as one of the best drones on the market, although its size clearly makes it unsuitable for an impromptu photography trip.
According to DJI, the FlyCart can carry 100 to 100 kg, making it a workhorse compared to traditional delivery drones. Over longer distances, it can transport 65 kg over 12 kilometers or 80 kg over 6 kilometers: impressive carrying capacity.
For this purpose, it is equipped with a winch and a 30-meter long rope that can be wound at a speed of 1.2 meters per second. This system offers an automatic descent and ascent mode or a manual mode when needed.
Such feats obviously require a hefty diet. According to DJI, the FlyCart 100 supports ultra-fast charging and is powered by hot-swappable batteries with a redundant system. This means that even if a cell breaks, the drone can continue to fly. These batteries can also be heated to work efficiently in cold climates.
Its price is exorbitant
In terms of endurance, DJI announces that its new drone can operate in temperatures between -20°C and 40°C, withstand wind speeds of up to 12 meters per second and fly up to 6,000 meters, enough to climb countless peaks. It has IP55 certification against water and dust, a LiDAR detection system to avoid obstacles and even an integrated parachute that can slow the descent up to seven meters per second if necessary.
Despite these impressive features, appearance does not play an inconsiderable role. Large body, angular design, eight rotors and several visible modules: the machine has a cyberpunk style that is more reminiscent of the filming of a post-apocalyptic movie than a classic delivery drone. If there’s a huge arrival of the FlyCart 100 on the horizon, it’s going to be hard not to feel your pulse quicken.
US users may never see it up close. The US government is moving closer to a complete ban on DJI products for national security reasons, which could deprive the country of this giant machine.
DJI has not yet communicated an official price for the FlyCart 100. However, specialized sites have a price of around $12,500 (or around €10,700). Definitely a significant number, but this drone is no toy.
Given its exceptional capabilities, it is certain that professionals interested in this type of machine will be willing to pay the price. We can only hope that one day the FlyCart 100 doesn’t develop ambitions like Skynet…
