- Meta’s future connected glasses have been postponed
- Mixed reality technology still needs improvement.
- Meta says he needs “more room to manoeuvre”.
Of course, we’ll have to wait a little longer until Meta’s famous mixed reality (MR) glasses appear. According to the latest rumours, the launch initially planned for next year may now be pushed back to 2027.
The information comes from various internal notes from the metal conductor Business interior design I could have consulted (via devote). We’re told these glasses are codenamed “Phoenix” to give the company “more room to refine the details.”
Another passage in the note mentions a direct benefit to the final product: “Many articles are coming in quickly with tight deadlines and important changes to our main interface,” we can read. «And you cannot ignore a truly successful and reliable experience. »
Little specific information has been leaked about these MRI glasses, but according to several sources, including The Information, the glasses would be accompanied by an external stone-shaped accessory that would contain the battery or even some of the computing power.
There are many more devices in the works
Meta now has extensive experience in the field of virtual and augmented reality. Meta Quest 4 is also slated for release, although it is said that it won’t be released until 2026.
The company is also developing its own connected glasses, such as the latest Ray-Ban Meta display glasses (connected to a neural control bracelet) or the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 (without an integrated screen).
The “Phoenix” version currently in development could be somewhere between the connected glasses already on the market and larger ones like the Quest. Perhaps it would be inspired by the Meta Orion glasses, which are already visible in prototype form.
According to earlier rumors, several AI-based wearable devices are also being developed. One of them, known by the code name “Malibu 2”, is mentioned in the Business Insider article. But here, too, the wait continues.
