Matrox, once a major player in the 1990s graphics card market, is making a comeback. While it stepped away from mainstream gaming, the company has remained active in professional and multi-display environments. Notably, it supplies display systems for venues like the Sphere in Las Vegas.
Now, Matrox is launching a new graphics card designed for synchronized video walls and multi-display installations.
Introducing the LUMA Pro A380 Octal
The Matrox LUMA Pro A380 Octal is a dual-GPU graphics card built for high-resolution, multi-screen setups. Key features include:
- Two Intel Arc A380E GPUs
- Eight Mini DisplayPort 2.0 outputs
- Support for up to four 8K or eight 5K displays
- 12GB of GDDR6 memory
- 130W power draw with active cooling
- Single-slot PCIe 4.0 x16 form factor
It supports major graphics APIs, including DirectX 12 Ultimate, OpenGL 4.6, Vulkan 1.3, and OpenCL 3.0. Matrox’s PowerDesk and Mura Developer tools are also compatible.
Performance and Capabilities
The A380 Octal delivers synchronized, high-definition video across up to eight displays. It supports:
- HDR and VESA DSC compression
- Adaptive Sync and HDCP 2.3
- Up to 36-bit color depth
- Multi-channel HD audio via four digital outputs
For larger setups, users can install two cards in one system. These can be frame-locked for synchronized output.
A Simpler Option: A380 Quad
Matrox also offers the A380 Quad, a more compact version with:
- One Intel Arc A380E GPU
- 6GB of memory
- Four full-sized DisplayPort connectors
- Lower power consumption
This model is ideal for less demanding installations.
