Microsoft says Copilot will “finish its code before the coffee runs out,” further fueling the ongoing controversy over Windows 11’s artificial intelligence.

  • Microsoft has released a simple flex for Copilot on X
  • It said, “Copilot will leave your code before you finish your coffee.”
  • The answers below are impressive, including comments about why Windows 11 updates are so buggy.

Microsoft is keen to capitalize on AI’s strengths, as Windows 11 decisively moves into a future with Copilot and various AI agents, and a new article on

In case you missed it, many quarters have reacted quite negatively to the recent revelations about the new AI features Microsoft is introducing in Windows 11 (including AI Agent, one of the latest buzzwords).

Intel immediately embraced the idea, with the Blue Team pro account on X answer to say: “IT’S productivity!” »

Unfortunately for Microsoft, almost everyone who posted a response wasn’t so lucky. In fact, some of the countless responses to Microsoft’s boast are so cold that if the words could be used as exotic cooling for a record-breaking overclocking attempt, we’d have a 10GHz processor in town (well, not really, but you get my point).

The first comment posted is actually a bit small. Brilliant thanks to a graphic designer.: “I can finish my coffee before I right-click > open Task Manager.”

And then I call many people who can’t help but ask if that’s the reason Windows 11 crashes after every updateor about Copilot completing the Windows 11 code and how to do it would explain a lot.

Analysis: Timing is everything

There is a lot of talk about whether Copilot code completion really has anything to do with the state and bugs in Windows 11, but this is nothing new. Almost every article I’ve seen on Reddit or all of this dates back to earlier this year, when CEO Satya Nadella told us that up to 30% of Microsoft’s coding was done with artificial intelligence.

At a time when every online forum is still reacting strongly to Microsoft wanting to integrate more artificial intelligence into Windows 11, you can see that it seems pretty tone-deaf for the company’s social media staff to post something like this. That’s the problem with what happened here, whether Copilot has any real programming experience or not, which is the other main source of criticism raised in the comments on Microsoft’s post.

As for the latter, Copilot, or artificial intelligence more generally, can certainly be a useful tool for coding. Programmers use it for more tedious tasks, although there are debates and doubts among programmers about whether AI should be used for this purpose (and how it promotes bad practice in general).

The broader problem is that using AI to help with programming will make people lazy over time and weaken their basic skills, ultimately leading to a programming world where AI takes over and humans find it increasingly difficult to understand code and effectively solve problems as they arise.

All of these concerns seem valid, but for now Microsoft just needs to temper its enthusiasm for AI features and keep an eye on the environment. The recent development of Windows 11 still leaves one wondering where all this is going and why Microsoft is not addressing what they consider to be the much more pressing issues with Windows 11, namely fixing existing problems and combating bugs.
