New privacy-focused apps from Proton Mail are coming to iOS and Android

Proton has now revamped its mobile apps for iOS and Android, creating a new design that will make them more competitive with iOS Mail and Gmail.

Proton Mail’s mobile redesign includes a new codebase that supports iPhone and Android platforms, making app updates faster and easier. Proton reports that the new apps offer features such as scrolling and responding twice as fast as previous versions.

Proton’s privacy features include end-to-end encryption and various tools to filter spam, stop email tracking and delete marketing emails. Proton Mail has added additional features, including an email snooze function and an offline mode that allows users to browse, archive and compose new emails, all synchronized when the internet connection is restored.

“We’ve rebuilt everything from the ground up so encrypted email is now as fast and seamless as Apple Mail or Gmail, the biggest difference is that it doesn’t scan your inbox or generate revenue. I’ve been using the new apps for a while now and the speed improvement is real.”
