- Expected improvements in Galaxy S26 series photo sensors
- The Ultra model may also have a higher capacity battery
- An even thinner model could replace the Galaxy S25 Edge
The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S26 series could happen within a few months and rumors are rife. The latter has a telephoto upgrade on all four models in the series.
The information comes fromAlchemical lossesmoved on Check the notebook. It covers all the technical specifications of the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra and, like other previous rumours, confirms the discontinuation of the Galaxy S26 Edge model.
Most of the specs are as expected, but most notable is the addition of a 12MP 1/2.55-inch telephoto lens on each of the three models. It’s significantly larger than the 1/3.52-inch 10Mpx sensor used in the current Galaxy S25.
While the 3x optical zoom would remain unchanged, such an improvement would theoretically allow for more detailed images to be captured with less digital noise. A larger sensor captures more light for each shot.
Reinforced batteries and new size
The Galaxy S25 Ultra may come with a more powerful battery.
The same tipster also notes that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will have an even larger telephoto lens, although this is “yet to be confirmed”. Other improved photo sensors are mentioned throughout the range without specifying exact measurements.
From Samsung’s side, some executives have already publicly announced that major photography developments are planned for the new devices. So far, the Galaxy S series has been criticized for slow development in this area.
Another interesting revelation from this leak: the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s battery could reach a capacity of 5,400 mAh, compared to the S25 Ultra’s 5,000 mAh. However, this change would still be uncertain, as the informant speaks of a ‘last minute change’.
Finally, like other sources, not only is the Galaxy S26 Edge confirmed to be out of production, but there is also talk of the launch of a new, slimmer model that will replace it. The Galaxy S26 series could include four high-end models despite the announced disappearance of the Edge.
