Looks like Christmas has come a little early for Sony fans. Along with the official announcement at the alpha event next week, the brand has also released images showing the silhouette of the highly anticipated Sony A7 V body.
A shadow picture appeared in history. Official German Sony Alpha Instagram accountThis is actually a repost of the image that was originally shared, jonas wickwoodI’m a photographer and videographer from Munich.
All indications are that Wakewood had access to an early version of the Sony A7V and published the images with Sony’s full approval (or at Sony’s direct request). Unfortunately, Instagram Stories has since disappeared, but Sony Alpha Rumors has had time to learn about it and improve it (below).
The image shows a brightly lit silhouette, showing off some details of the full-frame camera body, the A7 logo, and “New Gear” text. It’s all about the highly anticipated Sony A7 V, the first all-new A7 model since 2021’s A7 IV.
Major Sony Alpha and Sony Electronics accounts also hinted at the upcoming Alpha program with the phrase “Chase your dreams” (below). The event is scheduled for December 2, 2025 at 15:00. (Paris Time) – I would be very surprised if this announcement wasn’t related to the Sony A7V.
What can you expect?
Rumors have already surfaced about the Sony A7V and its potential specifications, and we’re expecting official confirmation, pricing information, and release date at an event next week. Fans will be able to pre-order from December 2nd.
Current speculation suggests that the A7 V will have a 33-megapixel full-frame sensor with the same resolution as the A7 IV. But maybe it’s the wrong sensor. Changes are planned to improve performance, including faster read speeds and optimized image stabilization.
The A7 V is said to feature a dedicated AI chip for advanced subject detection and AF tracking, as well as a more powerful image processor for sharper shots and longer shooting periods. In the video field, there are also plans to improve 4K video quality to 120 frames per second.
We will just have to wait a few more days for the truth to come out. All the official details about the upcoming Sony device will be available here from next week.
