  • The Coros Pace 4 smartwatch has just hit the market
  • It offers an AMOLED screen and better pulse accuracy.
  • The price has increased slightly compared to the Coros Pace 3

If you like stylish and light racing watches, the Coros Pace series has long offered stiff competition. There was a lot to like about the Pace 3, but it faces stiff competition from models like the Garmin Forerunner 165 and Fitbit Versa 3. Can the Coros keep up? We’re about to find out, as the company just announced an update to its popular Pace series.

HE The rhythm of the choir 4 It comes with a number of improvements, but still has the lightweight chassis of its predecessor and maintains its weight of 32 grams when paired with a nylon strap. The weight should be light enough not to weigh you down on the trail.

One of the biggest improvements to the Pace 4 is the addition of a 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen, bringing it closer to the Coros Pace Pro watch. When testing the Pace 3, we criticized the mineral glass LCD screen, which can be a little hard to see in sunlight. With the addition of AMOLED technology, you should be able to enjoy a brighter and clearer screen in all conditions.

Coros says the watch’s heart rate accuracy has also improved, giving more accurate readings that should better reflect actual heart health. This is thanks to a redesigned heart rate sensor that Coros says can reduce external peaks and troughs in readings.

Even longer battery life

In addition, Pace 4 has voice-activated control via a built-in microphone. This means you can now record exercise logs, record voice pins, jot down reminders and more without touching the watch screen.

Battery life has always been a strong point of the Pace 3 and the Pace 4 has improved this further. After 41 hours, you get better performance from the Pace 4 when connected to a five-satellite network than from the Pace 3 when connected to two satellites (25 hours). As far as GPS training goes, this is pretty impressive.

However, not everything has changed. The design remains the same as the Pace 3, while features such as the Virtual Pacer and race predictions carry over from the previous model. We praise the large number of parameters that the Pace 3 offers, so it’s good to see many of them in the new Pace 4.

As for the price, the Coros Pace 4 costs $249 (£229) and is available now. This is a slight increase on the Pace 3’s $229/£219 price, but given that affordability was one of the previous model’s main selling points, we’re glad the price hasn’t gone up too much.
