- AMD’s Ryzen 9850X3D has leaked again
- This time there is photographic evidence of the processor on a BIOS screen.
- With all the talk about this Ryzen 9800X3D upgrade, it seems likely that it will arrive soon, possibly with a launch at CES 2026.
AMD’s rumored upgrade to its best gaming processor, the Ryzen 9800X3D, gets another leak as this chip has recently become a processor base.
This is Ryzen 9850X3D and Wccftech reports That HXL, a known X hardware leaker, published a photo of an Asus BIOS screen showing the processor as an 8-core chip clocked at 5.3GHz. It runs on an Asus B850 motherboard.

In theory, we are witnessing the testing of a technical sample of the chip, but as with all leaks, we have to be cautious, even if the photographic evidence presented here is more convincing than previous rumors (with the possible exception of an apparent leak, when a page of the Ryzen 9850X3D was accidentally and briefly published on AMD’s official website in France before it was removed).
No details about this bug have been left on the French Team Red website, but there are already several rumors highlighting the same thing: that the Ryzen 9850X3D will be essentially the same as the current 9800X3D, it will simply increase the boost frequency to 5.6 GHz.
Analysis: This should be good news for players either way
While we don’t see the 5.6GHz boost speed in the leaked photo, it doesn’t change the idea that the Ryzen 9850X3D will run at the maximum clock speed. Note that this is a technical test example, so any clock speeds will likely reflect this.
If the Ryzen 9850X3D actually achieves a 5.6GHz boost, it would be 400MHz faster than the Ryzen 9800X3D. A recent leak showed that the 9850X3D was 5% faster than the traditional 9800X3D in PassMark’s single-core and multi-core tests, but that’s not an ideal benchmark for judging a gaming CPU.
The reality is that the extra speed increase will certainly be nice, but probably won’t be a huge improvement, and anyway the CPU’s influence on gaming scenarios varies a lot from game to game (and also depends on the resolution, since the GPU plays a much bigger role at high resolutions like 4K).
However, the Ryzen 9800X3D is widely considered to be the best gaming processor, so a slightly faster updated version will still be welcome. The problem is that if (well, I should say Yes) Ryzen 9850X3D hits the market it will probably sell at a fairly high MSRP. And if inventory is low to begin with, the price may rise further due to demand or price cuts.
But the initial clamor will no doubt die down, and there is another upside to this potential launch: namely that a Ryzen 9850X3D would increase pricing pressure on the Ryzen 9800X3D, meaning we could get more attractive offers on this excellent chip next year, as we’ve already seen with the 7800X3D. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
Of course, the Ryzen 9850X3D has yet to be confirmed, but it is now looking increasingly likely that it will debut at CES 2026, which would be an obvious platform for this launch.
