YouTube TV subscribers lost all Disney channels on October 30, including ESPN and ESPN2. “We are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Disney that preserves the value of our service to our subscribers and the future flexibility of our offerings,” a YouTube spokesperson said. “Subscribers should see channels like ABC, ESPN and FX return to the service later today, along with any recordings previously in their libraries. We apologize for the disruption and thank our subscribers for their patience as we negotiate on their behalf.”
This is what the companies say. in a statement which has signed a multi-year contract and is already in the process of restoring channels on YouTube TV.
According to YouTube, subscribers should see saved content and restored recordings within the next 24 hours. So if you haven’t collected them yet, they will appear soon.
I also subscribe to YouTube TV and since Friday at 17:30. PT, Disney, ESPN and other channels have been restored for me. As a die-hard Minnesota Vikings fan (yeah, I know), I temporarily added Fubo TV, but I won’t be keeping that subscription.
According to the statement, the agreement covers the rehabilitation of canals and other elements. The unlimited version of ESPN’s new direct-to-consumer service is now available to YouTube TV subscribers at no additional cost. Subscribers also have access to a selection of live and on-demand programming from ESPN Unlimited on YouTube TV. In addition, some channels will be included in different genre-specific packages and there will be an option to include the Disney Plus Hulu package as part of some YouTube offers.
“This new agreement reflects our continued commitment to delivering exceptional entertainment and evolving the way audiences want to watch,” Disney Entertainment co-chairmen Alan Bergman and Dana Walden and ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro said in the statement. “It recognizes the tremendous value of Disney programming and offers YouTube TV subscribers more flexibility and choice.” We are pleased that our networks were restored in time for fans to enjoy the many exciting programming options this weekend, including college football.
The Disney-owned channels were shut down on October 30, when the agreement between the two companies expired.
