If you were disappointed by the announcements from this week’s Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, you’re not alone.
The stream, which lasted approximately 30 minutes, showcased a number of upcoming games for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. We surveyed thousands of readers who followed our live coverage of the event and received hundreds of responses.
The question was simple: “How would you rate the latest Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase out of 10?” » with options for each numerical score. The answer? A resounding 1/10.
Of the 275 votes received, the majority (28%) chose a value of 1/10. Similarly, low numbers dominate the other most common responses, with 3/10 and 2/10 taking second and third place.
When you add it all up, an overwhelming 58% rated the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase less than 5/10.
Although it didn’t make the top three, 7/10 (which I think is a “good” result) it was still quite popular with 10% of the votes, suggesting that some viewers were happy.
However, it is telling that very few voters chose to give Direct a rating of 10/10 (just 4%), and even fewer (3%) chose 9/10.
To find out why, I turned to Reddit and the gaming forum Resetera to see what users were saying. The common theme seems to be a lack of new reveals, with most teasers focusing on ports or products that have already been announced.
“Most of them aren’t even ads. (Independent game) Orbitals It looks great and is one of my most anticipated games, but we saw it during the last Nintendo Direct,” reads one of the highest-rated comments in a Live discussion thread. “What’s really new here?”
“There was only one game that was a world first and exclusive to Switch 2,” one user responded. “This game was Tokyo fever.
Fun concept (dinosaur stealth game), but requires a lot of tweaks and improvements. It seemed to be something independent.
“There was really nothing except (Kyoto) Xanadu “It was either kind of interesting or hasn’t appeared anywhere else in a long time,” said another.
One commenter agrees. Reboot I simply wrote, “I’m going back to bed,” which sums up the general feeling well.
Despite all this, there were definitely some interesting highlights. Orbitals is really great with his it takes two cooperative action style and charming art style while bringing a new interpretation Resident Evil Requiem and the revelation of a The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredgo to the port to show the technical capabilities of the Switch 2 hardware.
Still, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the next Nintendo Direct will be a little more exciting.
