The lack of truly affordable components in this generation has been a problem for many consumers, but AMD may fix it very soon with the re-release of some of its budget Ryzen 3000G series chips.
According to a report by Card Channels AMD may be bringing back the only two models in its entry-level Ryzen 3000G processor series, the quad-core 3400G and quad-core 3200G. VideoCardz claims AMD will produce up to 30,000 of them, which will be sold alongside budget motherboards like the B450M series.
It’s unclear whether the 3000G-series processors will feature updated hardware or ship as originally released in 2019. Both of these processors came from the Picasso family and featured the 12nm Zen+ architecture, with the Ryzen 5 3400G clocking Basic. of 3.7 GHz and a boost clock of 4.2 GHz, and the Ryzen 3 3200G reaching 3.6 GHz and 4 GHz respectively.
This could inspire more affordable options in the future.
We already know how expensive this generation’s graphics cards are, with no adequate budget options for those who can’t afford to spend half a salary on a card. And just like GPUs, current-generation CPUs have suffered from the same price problem.
However, AMD could score a big goal in its game against Intel, and in a way that Intel doesn’t seem to consider. While they have released their own budget graphics cards, they have not released or announced any re-releases of their older, budget versions of their processors.
If AMD releases the 3400G and 3200G models, it will again open up an underserved market, with buyers who may need an affordable PC that works well enough for them without breaking the bank. And, especially in these challenging times, it’s a valuable market to own and hold. And while it would be nice if AMD upgraded the hardware to improve performance, even these processors in its old hardware would be enough for many PC users.
Hopefully, the relaunch of the Ryzen 3000G series will inspire the competition to try a similar strategy to compete. This way we will all win with many affordable options on the market. How nice that would be.
