The only slight downside is that things can be particularly tight (or not fit at all) if you plan on using a large leather case or holster. But for people like me who prefer to keep their devices out of sight, it’s a great companion. As for durability, while I don’t want to endanger my Switch 2 by dropping it from a building, I have dropped the console from a table several times while in its case without causing any damage.
Battery
Okay, but what about the charging part? Instead of integrating the battery into the case itself, Belkin has kept things incredibly simple. The kit comes with an included battery and a cut with straps to ensure it stays in place during transport. Sure, it’s not the most elegant solution, but it’s simple and effective and gives you the flexibility to charge other devices when you need to.
Now, it’s possible that if Belkin had opted for an internal battery, there would have been room for more capacity. But at 10,000 mAh, I think the kit strikes a good balance between size and durability. Since the Switch 2 has a 5220 mAh cell, the Belkin power adapter has enough power for almost two full charges. And since it’s removable, if you ever need to charge anything other than a Switch 2, you can just grab the battery and leave the case handy.
I appreciate that Belkin didn’t take too many shortcuts either. Included in the package are two USB-C ports that support charging and charging. Speeds are also decent, with a battery capable of producing up to 20 watts, which seems like the Switch 2 is plugged in (although it’s closer to 15 watts in reality). You can also charge two devices at the same time, but since you are sharing the power, it will take a little longer. There’s also a handy built-in display, so you never have to guess how much juice is left in the tank. And thanks to the included cable with an angled connector and a small cable channel in the case, it’s easy to keep everything clean and tidy while charging.
Additional functions
Other small but useful details of the Belkin case include a mesh pocket for storing small accessories such as cables. Don’t put in too much or you can put extra pressure on the bracket. There is also a flap with elastic pockets that can hold up to 12 game cartridges. But my favorite feature is the AirTag compartment, which is hidden on the right side behind mesh and makes it easy to place a tracker inside without being too noticeable.
Summary
Belkin’s charging case for the Switch 2 isn’t particularly advanced. But considering it costs $70, that’s fine by me, as it offers everything you want in a basic case, plus a very useful bonus. It looks great, the Switch 2 fits well and doesn’t look like a chunky Pelican case, but offers more than enough protection against everyday bumps and drops.
I wish Belkin sold a battery-free version to anyone who wanted to use their own power supply. The model offered by the company is not an ideal option as it does not offer much extra space inside. But this kit still offers a solid combination of price and convenience, which is all I ever asked for.
