NordVPN Launches Full GUI Linux VPN App

NordVPN has released a new Linux VPN app with a complete graphical user interface. This upgrade makes privacy protection more accessible for Linux users.

The new GUI version transforms the experience with visual elements that simplify the use of advanced features. Users can now access features like Threat Protection, Double VPN, and kill switch with just a few clicks.

“This launch makes cybersecurity accessible for everyone,” said NordVPN’s CTO, Marijus Briedis. “Whether you’re a seasoned Linux user or new to the OS, this GUI will enhance your experience.”

The app offers both dark and light modes to suit user preferences. It maintains full support for post-quantum encryption and includes NordWhisper, the company’s latest censorship-resistant protocol.

NordVPN joins other providers offering GUI Linux apps, including Surfshark (since 2022), ExpressVPN (since March), and Private Internet Access.

How to Upgrade

The installation process is similar to the CLI version with one small change. To install the GUI version, use this terminal command:

sh <(wget -qO - https://downloads.nordcdn.com/apps/linux/install.sh) -p nordvpn-gui

The GUI is currently available through DEB and RPM packages, with a Snap version coming soon.

Note: Some features, including Meshnet, remain accessible only through the CLI version, which continues to be fully supported.
