Karmin Corp, Solary, Navi, G2… These names are familiar to esports fans. These professional teams, some of which have won renowned tournaments, have chosen to work in collaboration with Logitech.
With its Logitech G range, the computer accessories giant has built a great reputation for itself, to the point of classifying many of its products among the benchmarks of gaming. Among them, the Pro X headset has risen to the top rung of gaming headsets.
Used by many professional gamers, the Logitech G Pro X has established itself as THE benchmark for headsets. It is even the most popular model among players in France, far ahead of its competitors.
After two years of good and loyal service, the G Pro X needed a bit of a facelift, just to keep its throne. Therefore, Logitech launches the G Pro X 2 Lightspeed, an even more advanced gaming headset that will support esports teams of the particular brand.
Available from June 13 for 270 euros, costs more than its predecessor when it was released (230 euros). The good news is that the Pro X remains in the catalog for demanding gamers with a smaller wallet.
Luckily, we got a chance to test the Logitech G Pro X2 Lightspeed in preview. These are the 4 things to remember after almost a month of testing.
even more comfortable
To design the products in its G range, Logitech relies on the experience of its professional gamers. Thus, in the process of creating the G Pro X 2 Lightspeed, the teams were involved in every aspect. Accustomed to the first model, they were able to advise the engineers on points of improvement.
The first result is a revised and corrected design. This new model is lighter (345 g compared to 370 g of the previous model) thanks to the use of materials such as aluminum or metal.
Above all, the speakers of the G Pro X 2 are made of 95% graphene which has the particularity of combining extreme rigidity with great lightness. Logitech has also revised its ear cups, now swiveling, to provide more comfort in use.
Indeed, the Pro X 2 does not change much aesthetically compared to its predecessor. So much so that it’s hard to tell them apart unless you’ve chosen the white model, a color exclusive to the Pro X 2.
To measure design differences, it is necessary to wear the helmet for several hours. We do not deprive ourselves of it (only for this test, of course) and we chain the game sessions and helmets on our heads.
We never feel its weight or even any heating effect on the ears. Logitech manages to erase all the defects that can be found in a standard gaming headset to prolong the pleasure of the game.
An incomparable immersion
We mentioned above, The 50mm drivers of the G Pro X 2 Lightspeed are made of graphene. This carbon-based material has interesting characteristics for comfort but also audio. Logitech explains that graphene allows a more precise and clear sound to be transmitted.
Qualities that we confirm after several days of testing. The sound offered by the G Pro X 2 is even more precise than that of its excellent predecessor. Interference noise is rarer, distortion is absent.
Above all, the G Pro X 2 stands out for the immersive experience that offers. Thanks to DTS/X 2.0 surround sound and Lightspeed 2.0 technology, the spatialization of sound is impressive.
We tested the headset in Warzone, the Call of Duty battle royale known for its incredible sound design. With the G Pro X 2, our experience turned out to be much more comfortable. This doesn’t remove the game’s mediocre coding, but it does improve it in certain situations.
Specifically, immersion is such that we assess with greater precision the distance at which the enemies are, where they come from, and at what speed. The sounds of footsteps, reloads, shots, and jumps, are such that we considerably improve our game thanks to the sound.
If you are a fan of online FPS, Logitech G Pro X 2 Lightspeed will change your gaming experience.
Optimized for team play
During our test, we also evaluated the microphone of the G Pro X 2 Lightspeed. The players know that communication is essential in the team game. However, it is essential to find the right balance between the sound of the game (to remain efficient) and the sound of your teammates (to communicate better).
Therefore, Logitech has also improved this point by integrating a detachable 6mm carcinoid microphone based on Blue Voice technology (the Blue microphone brand was acquired by Logitech a few years ago).
Once again, we were blown away by the experience. Not only did we hear our teammates perfectly, but everyone was impressed with the sound quality of our voices.
Autonomy record
It was one of the weak points of the previous version, so Logitech was eager to review their copy. The autonomy of the G Pro X 2 Lightspeed has been greatly improved since it goes from 20 hours to 50 hours.
Of course, this autonomy depends to a large extent on its use. With a sound DTX/X 2.0 Surround and a high volume associated with prolonged use of the microphone, you will experience the headset faster than with a “classic” sound in a solo game.
Our take on the Logitech G Pro X 2 Lightspeed
As you will have understood, the Logitech G Pro X 2 Lightspeed is a real favorite. The “for the pros” gaming headset designed by Logitech takes the ingredients of its predecessor and improves on all the points that take the gaming experience to a professional level.
In absolute terms, the price of 260 euros does not seem excessive for the experience it offers. But we can’t help but feel a little miffed by the price increase compared to the first version, which sold for €230 when it launched.
The G Pro X 2 Lightspeed indeed incorporates newer technologies and, therefore, is more expensive. But it also incorporates certain elements of its predecessor, which are less expensive for being older. Logitech also seems to be riding the wave of inflation, and that’s our only disappointment.
