Garmin appears to be preparing for several still-undisclosed releases: Rumors persist that the much-anticipated Garmin Venu 3 will launch in September 2023, and now another surprise Garmin device has been spotted in a regulatory listing.

This latest device is not a sequel to one of Garmin’s best watches, but a new heart rate monitor. the media Gadgets and wearables He was the first to see the heart rate monitor in Malaysia’s SIRIM database, a listing of radio and telecommunication equipment designed to ensure that new telecommunication products meet the country’s consumer standards.

It’s a heart rate sensor called the HRM-FIT, a name that, probably stylized as HRM-Fit, follows the same nomenclature as Garmin’s current line of top heart rate monitors, including the HRM-Pro and HRM-Dual. There has been speculation on the Internet that the name “Fit” implies that it will be the first Garmin heart rate monitor that can be worn around the arm, like some of its competitors, and not just around the chest; however, this is pure speculation.

Garmin heart rate monitors offer some of the same running metrics as their best watches, so if you don’t want to pay for an expensive smartwatch, you can still get workout insights.

They can be paired with a Garmin watch to increase accuracy and produce additional metrics like running power. Additionally, Garmin heart rate monitors are waterproof to 5 ATM, making them ideal for triathlon training.

Some people don’t like having to wear a chest strap while exercising, and if you don’t rely solely on the HR sensor in your running watch, you might prefer the simpler option of wearing an armband, as competitors allow. Sense. While HRMs aren’t as popular as their watches, it’s frankly baffling that Garmin hasn’t explored this form factor yet. Chest HRMs are more accurate, but if Garmin can put the sensors on your wrist, they can give in to the pressure and put one on your arm.

Of course, this is just speculation and the fact that Garmin is working on a new HRM is the only concrete news we have. We don’t know what that will look like or when it’ll be released, but Garmin is preparing something for later this year (and all indications so far point to the Venu 3), so it would make sense for it to launch a few more new devices at the same time.
