Galaxy S26 Edge Battery Leaks: 4,200mAh Upgrade?

Hey, so more stuff’s leaking out about the Galaxy S26 Edge’s battery, right? Looks like it’ll probably hang onto that old-school lithium-ion setup, but hey, they’re talking about bumping it up to a beefier 4,200 mAh size.

With the Galaxy S25 Edge finally here, it’s fun to speculate on what’s next for the S26 Edge. But one big upgrade folks were buzzing about? Yeah, that might get delayed to some future phone instead.

I mean, some official filings spotted by SamMobile pretty much lock in that the 2026 model will keep using the same lithium-ion batteries we’ve had in phones forever now. You know, the reliable ones that have been around for ages.

Back a few months ago, there was all this chatter that Samsung might switch over to silicon-carbon tech for the S26 lineup. That stuff packs more juice into the same space, so you’d get longer stretches without plugging in. Sounds awesome, doesn’t it?

Well, turns out that’s off the table for now—at least on the Galaxy S26 Edge. And man, it could’ve used the boost. Like we said in our take on the S25 Edge, its battery just doesn’t hold up that well sometimes.

Anyway, moving on to the good news. Those same docs hint at a solid improvement anyway: the S26 Edge is set to rock a 4,200 mAh battery, up from the 3,900 mAh in the one out now. That’s gotta mean a bit more runtime between charges.

Fingers crossed Samsung tweaks the hardware or software a little more too, so battery woes aren’t even on your radar with this thing.

Oh, and there’s this other whisper going around—the S26 Edge might basically take over for the Galaxy S25 Plus. So no Plus version next year, just three main flagships in the S26 family instead of four.

If Samsung keeps their pattern, the whole Galaxy S26 crew should drop in January 2026. But before we get there, keep an eye out next Thursday for a fresh Galaxy S25 FE and maybe those Galaxy Tab S11 slates they’ve got cooking.
