These Features Will Arrive in Minecraft’s First 2025 Update
Mojang Studios has rolled out a fresh public testing update, introducing exciting additions to Minecraft: Java Edition. Players can now test two new cow variants, fresh bush types, and immersive desert sounds, all set to launch in Minecraft’s first major update of 2025.
New Cow Variants: Cold Cow & Auburn Warm Cow
Minecraft’s diverse biomes are getting fresh life with two unique cow types:
- Cold Cow – Found in cold biomes, these fluffy-coated cows bring a cozy feel wherever they roam.
- Auburn Warm Cow – Spotted in sandy biomes, this variant blends into the warm landscapes.
New Bush Types: Firefly Bush & Standard Bush
Mojang continues enhancing Minecraft’s plant life, adding:
- Firefly Bush – Found near swamps and water bodies, this bush spawns glowing fireflies at night, creating an enchanting atmosphere. Players can also bury them beneath blocks for hidden sparkles.
- Bush – A simple tuft of greenery sprouting in forests, plains, hills, and other lush biomes.
Desert Biomes Get Richer Ambient Sounds
Deserts are becoming more immersive with new ambient audio effects:
- Sand whispers and shifting dunes add depth to the barren landscape.
- Dead bushes now produce cricket chirps, rustling twigs, and eerie wind gusts.
- Players can replicate these sounds by placing dead bushes on sand or grouping sand/terracotta blocks.
How to Try the Update
These features, alongside last month’s six new gameplay additions, are now available for testing. Players can enable:
- Java Edition Snapshots in the Minecraft Launcher.
- Bedrock Edition Beta/Previews via game settings.
With these biome enhancements, Mojang continues to refine Minecraft’s sandbox experience, bringing more realism and magic to the world.
