Nvidia Unveils G-Sync Pulsar: Revolutionizing Gaming with Cutting-Edge Displays at CES 2024

Nvidia is unveiling cutting-edge technology at CES 2024, featuring new displays equipped with the latest G-Sync Pulsar technology.

A progression from G-Sync, the exclusive variable refresh rate (VRR) tech present in top-tier high-refresh-rate monitors, G-Sync Pulsar integrates VRR and ultra-low motion blur (ULMB) for an even smoother gaming experience.

Originally launched in 2013, G-Sync aimed to eliminate screen tearing and input latency by adjusting the monitor refresh rate to the GPU frame rate. AMD responded with FreeSync in 2015, essentially their version of VRR, now commonly found in gaming monitors.

Nvidia has consistently enhanced G-Sync, adding high dynamic range (HDR) compatibility in 2017 for a more vibrant and realistic display.

G-Sync Pulsar represents the next evolution, introducing ULMB. Previously, users had to choose between ULMB or G-Sync due to flickering issues with the former’s backlight strobing. G-Sync Pulsar resolves this with a novel algorithm that dynamically adjusts strobing patterns to varying render rates.

In simpler terms, users with a G-Sync Pulsar-compatible monitor and Nvidia GPU can enjoy clearer motion, potentially revolutionizing competitive gaming. Nvidia demonstrated the difference in a Counter-Strike 2 clip at CES 2024.
