Panasonic is stepping up its game in the world of TVs at CES 2024. The spotlight is on AI processors, and Panasonic has unveiled two OLED TVs – the Z95A and Z93A – featuring the upgraded HCX Pro AI processor Mk II.
This advanced chip not only promises enhanced picture quality for streaming services with a new 4K Remaster Engine and improved noise reduction but also introduces Dolby Vision support at a 144Hz refresh rate. This makes these TVs formidable contenders in the gaming TV arena.
Interestingly, Panasonic has jumped straight to Z for model names, departing from the previous alphabetical sequence. The Z95A, available in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes, features the Master OLED Ultimate panel for high brightness, utilizing microlens array (MLA) tech. On the other hand, the Z93A, available only in a 77-inch size, employs the Master OLED Pro Cinema panel, delivering slightly lower brightness but with advanced processing technology.
Both TVs offer an all-in-one package, integrating Amazon’s Fire TV software, Dolby Vision IQ Precision, and Panasonic’s impressive 360 Soundscape Pro-tech for Dolby Atmos. The HCX Pro AI Processor Mk II powers the improved Game Mode Extreme, incorporating HDMI 2.1, AMD Freesync Premium, Nvidia G-Sync, and VRR up to 144Hz for higher resolutions and faster frame rates. The TVs also feature ALLM support for a low-lag mode.
Beyond gaming, Panasonic positions the Z93A and Z95A as excellent smart home hubs. With Alexa, Apple Home, and AirPlay compatibility, they offer seamless integration for security checks and easy photo beaming. An ambient TV mode showcases customizable Alexa widgets like calendars and reminders.
Official release dates and pricing remain undisclosed, but if following the MZ2000, prices might range from £2,699 for the 55-inch to £4,499 for the 77-inch. Unfortunately, like previous models, availability in the US is uncertain. If Panasonic manages to address pricing concerns, it could become a strong contender for the best TVs list, considering its reputable history.
