With the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 now launched, attention is shifting to Samsung’s next flagship: the Galaxy S26 series. A new leak suggests the Galaxy S26 Ultra could feature a significant camera upgrade.

A New 200MP Camera from Sony
According to tipster Fixed Focus Digital (via GSMArena), the Galaxy S26 Ultra may include a high-end 200MP primary camera from Sony. While the current Galaxy S25 Ultra also has a 200MP sensor, the new version is expected to have a larger sensor size. This could lead to better image quality, especially in low light.
There’s a small chance this upgrade might be delayed until the Galaxy S27 Ultra, but for now, it’s expected in the S26 Ultra.
Launch Timeline and Lineup Changes
Samsung is likely to unveil the Galaxy S26 series in January 2026, following its usual release schedule. The Ultra model will likely be the most advanced—and most expensive—of the lineup.
Regulatory filings suggest Samsung may drop the Galaxy S26 Plus. That would leave three models in the series. The Galaxy S25 Edge, introduced earlier this year, could take the Plus model’s place, offering a slimmer design and simplifying the lineup.
Competition with Apple
Apple is rumored to be making similar changes. The iPhone 17 Air, expected to be thinner than previous models, may replace the iPhone 16 Plus in the 2025 lineup. Apple’s iPhone 17 series is set to launch in September, giving Samsung a few months to prepare its response.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra could have an edge over the iPhone 17 Pro Max in at least one key area: camera performance.
