Zepan RY-P1: Tiny Windows 11 Mini PC

0

While the Zepan RY-P1 may resemble a smartphone or even a hard drive at first glance, it’s, in fact, a mini PC powered by Windows 11, poised to become a reality after achieving crowdfunding success.

This incredibly lightweight device, dubbed a ‘true mobile office’ by its creators, weighs merely 140g—equivalent to a rice ball. Its sleek dimensions, measuring at 122 x 63 x 10mm, are even smaller than the 6.1-inch Apple iPhone 15, which boasts dimensions of 148 x 72 x 7.8mm.

At the time of writing, the RY-P1 project has amassed over $43,000 in funding, surpassing its original goal by a staggering 3,200%. As a result, this mini PC is slated for shipping by December 2023.

Compact Computing Power

The Zepan RY-P1 mini PC falls into the entry-level category, considering its astonishingly diminutive size.

Equipped with an Intel J4125 CPU and Intel UHD Graphics 600, it also features 8GB DDR4 RAM and a 128GB SSD for storage. Furthermore, the device supports Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6, offering support for resolutions up to 4K at 60Hz.

Connectivity options include USB-C, USB-2.0, and a microSD card slot. With the addition of an expansion dock, users gain access to four extra ports, including USB 2.0, USB 3.0, USB-C, and HDMI.

According to the Google-assisted translation of the company’s Greenfunding page, “In recent years, opportunities for working outside the home, such as during business trips or workdays, have increased. However, managing essential company and personal files can be a challenge. Laptops are cumbersome, and external hard drives aren’t easily portable.

Hence, the RY-P1 mini-computer we’re introducing was meticulously designed with “compactness” in mind. After completing your office tasks, you can effortlessly slip it into your pocket for on-the-go use during business trips or telecommuting. Unlike external hard drives, there’s no need for cumbersome data transfers, allowing you to start working promptly anywhere, anytime. The RY-P1 truly serves as a mobile office.”

Interestingly, Zepan is even shipping this device to select backers with a complementary portable tablet-sized display that the mini PC snugly slots into. This could potentially pave the way for compatible smartphone-sized touchscreen displays, transforming the RY-P1 into a full-fledged Windows 11 smartphone.
