OpenAI GPT Progress: Custom Chatbots, Seamless Switching

Share

OpenAI has solidified its position as a frontrunner in generative AI. An inconspicuous yet noteworthy addition involves tagging a custom GPT bot with an ‘@’ in the prompt.

In November 2023, OpenAI rolled out custom ChatGPT-powered chatbots, enhancing user interactions. Dubbed GPTs, these chatbots were available to subscribers of the premium ChatGPT Plus service. Users could easily construct their personalized GPT-powered chatbots using OpenAI’s user-friendly interface. Subscribers could actively contribute to training and enhancing the intelligence of their GPTs over time, enabling them to excel in various user-assigned tasks.

Earlier this year, OpenAI introduced the GPT store, providing users the ability to craft GPT bots tailored for specific categories such as education, productivity, and leisure. These bots could then be shared with other users. Once on the GPT store, these AI chatbots became searchable, allowing them to compete and rank in leaderboards alongside bots created by other users. Moreover, creators had the potential to earn money through their inventive bots.

Exciting Discovery: Easier GPT Bot Switching

OpenAI has quietly introduced a nifty feature for ChatGPT users, spotted by @danshipper. Summoning GPTs now involves using an ‘@’ in conversations.

According to Cybernews, this tweak aims to enhance the fluidity of switching between various custom GPT personas, particularly for ChatGPT Plus subscribers. The resemblance to functionalities in platforms like Discord and Slack is notable.

Interestingly, OpenAI has not officially disclosed this update, relying on users like @danshipper to unveil it. This unconventional approach to feature introduction sparks intrigue and sets OpenAI apart.
