Shokz OpenFit 2 & OpenMeet: Next-Gen Open-Ear Audio

In 2023, Shokz took a detour from its trademark bone-conduction tech and introduced the OpenFit, a pair of open-ear “air-conduction” earbuds. While they offered an upgrade over their bone-conduction siblings, audio quality still varied from track to track, and the overly sensitive touch controls frustrated some listeners. Fast-forward to CES 2025, and Shokz is back with the $180 OpenFit 2—and it seems they’ve addressed both major gripes, plus they’ve unveiled a new bone-conduction headset aimed at office users.

You can grab the OpenFit 2 today for $180 from Shokz’s website, Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and other retailers. If you’re outfitting your home or office for calls, OpenMeet is available through Shokz’s business portal.

Each OpenFit 2 earbud now houses both a woofer and a tweeter (the first generation had only one driver per side), delivering richer, more nuanced sound. Shokz has also fine-tuned its bass-boost algorithm to deliver stronger low-frequency vibrations straight to your ear.

Visually, the OpenFit 2 sticks close to its predecessor’s playbook: a lightweight hook wraps around the ear, and a small bud rests just outside your ear canal. The hooks have been revamped with softer silicone for a gentler feel and a tighter curve to stay put even during movement—Shokz says they contour to your ear’s unique shape for a snug, custom fit. At just 9.4 grams per earpiece, they come in classic black or a neutral beige.

One of the biggest changes is in the controls. Rather than relying solely on touch-sensitive panels, which can lead to unintended skips or pauses, the OpenFit 2 adds physical multifunction buttons alongside the touch zones to help avoid accidental inputs.

Battery life also gets a boost: you can now get up to 11 hours of continuous playtime on a single charge (up from seven), and with the charging case, you’re looking at about 48 hours total. They’re more rugged too, with an IP55 rating (versus IP54 before) and upgraded to Bluetooth 5.4.

On the office-gear front, Shokz has debuted the OpenMeet headset—a direct evolution of its OpenComm line. It keeps the signature open-ear design (the speaker sits just in front of your ear) but swaps the behind-the-head band for one that arches over the top. Weighing 78 grams, its five-point frame is engineered to distribute weight evenly, so you hardly notice you’re wearing it. Audio combines both bone and air conduction, while the tongue-in-cheek “LeakSlayer 3.0” tech keeps your side of the conversation from drifting into the room.

For calls, the OpenMeet features dual microphones with Qualcomm’s cVc noise suppression—claimed to cut background noise by up to 98.6 percent—plus a dedicated mute button, Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, and around 15 hours of run time.
