These are entry-level watches that are designed to be affordable through a number of cost-saving measures, including reusing old watch parts and a choice of different cases and casebacks without compromising functionality or performance. As a result, this is the best value Apple Watch and the best Apple Watch for most people.

The Apple Watch SE 3 was released this year and received 4.5 stars in our official Apple Watch SE 3 review. Prices start at $249 / £219 / AU$399, and while the larger and LTE models cost more, this is already a well-priced smartwatch.
However, the launch of the new model means a price drop from the previous Apple Watch SE 2 (which also received 4.5 stars in our Apple Watch SE 2 review). It’s tempting to buy an Apple Watch for $150/£150, but is it worth spending the extra money on the new SE 3?

Apple Watch SE 3 and Apple Watch SE 2: Specifications compared
As you can see, both watches are very similar and have the same design, size and weight. The price was the same at the time of launch.
However, there are some key differences between the two watches. First of all, the Apple Watch SE 3 has fast charging and an always-on display, which is a great and much-needed quality of life upgrade. In particular, the battery life of the Apple Watch SE series is only 18 hours, so it can be recharged quickly.
It’s also powered by the same S10 chip as the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Series 11, and comes with the latest smart features like hands-free gesture control and Ultra Wideband technology. This makes it more compatible with future iPhones and software updates, so if you’re looking for durability, the SE 3 is a better choice and probably a better value as it will last longer.
However, Apple no longer sells the SE 2, and it is sold at a steep discount compared to the previous SE.
Apple Watch SE 3 vs Apple Watch SE 2: Who Will Get More Votes?
Of the two watches, I chose the Apple Watch SE 3 because although the Apple Watch SE 2 is nearing the end of its lifespan, it will have good support for new features over the next few years.
However, this requires caution. There is currently a very attractive deal on the Apple Watch SE 2 as retailers look to clear out old stock. If you can buy the SE 2 for less than $150/£170, as I’ve seen at some retailers, I think it’s still worth a buy.
