If you’ve been looking for one of the best Mac or MacBook available for a few years, you’ll go to Apple’s official website and start with one of the pre-configured options, but that’s changing significantly now.
How he discovered it MacRumors and others no longer begin the purchasing process by selecting a pre-configured Mac or MacBook. Instead, start from scratch and choose components one by one, starting with screen size and color.
In other words, buying an Apple computer has become more like buying one of the best iPhones or the best iPads. This gives you a little more control over your new Mac or MacBook, but requires a little more knowledge about what exactly you want.
It’s always been possible to change your Mac’s specs, RAM, and storage after choosing a preconfigured computer. However, that first step has now been abandoned, perhaps for better consistency between Apple’s different product lines.
All the possibilities
There has been no official statement from Apple as to why this change was implemented, so we don’t know exactly what’s going on here. Another possibility is that users will be more tempted to upgrade to a higher specification if they can see all the available options.
It looks like all the previously available options are still there: for example, you can still pre-install certain professional apps like Final Cut Pro on your Mac (although there’s no mention of Apple Creator Studio yet).
All of this is happening as we eagerly await the release of new MacBook Pros in the near future, likely with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips inside. Perhaps the new online ordering system will help users evaluate the different options available.
Visit the Mac page on Apple’s official website to experience the new process for yourself (you don’t need to buy anything to try it out). Is this a good decision for the Apple Store or was it really not necessary? Let us know in the comments.
