Arlo announces a new series of security cameras powered by artificial intelligence

The next generation of Arlo security cameras is officially here, and they’re powered entirely by AI. The new versions of the Arlo Essential, Pro and Ultra cameras integrate with Arlo Intelligence features.

Arlo Essential cameras are among the company’s most affordable offerings because they are simple, no-nonsense security cameras. Arlo offers several options for 2K resolution or HD recording, as well as rechargeable or battery-powered variants.

The Pro camera comes with a significant price increase, but offers many more features than the Essential camera variants. The Pro has a 160-degree field of view, a built-in siren, package alerts and basic weather resistance. The Ultra camera offers all these benefits, including full weatherproofing, 4K HDR video, two-way audio and a replaceable rechargeable battery.

All new cameras are connected to the Arlo Secure app and have access to Arlo Intelligence AI features.

Arlo Intelligence features detect and report specific images in your feed, including people, vehicles and fires. It can also pick up specific audio signals and label them for you.

You can easily do these things yourself, but you can’t monitor your feed constantly. Therefore, this is a valuable tool that can alert you to important events that you would otherwise have missed. If something goes wrong, Arlo Intelligence has built-in emergency response to send you help, offering perhaps the greatest peace of mind of any AI-powered security feature.

If you want to use the full set of AI features in the latest version of Arlo Secure, you will need to pay a fee. After you use the 30-day free trial for your camera, projector or video doorbell, subscriptions start at $8 per month.

In addition to the Arlo Essential, Pro and Ultra cameras, the company is introducing two Essential Pan Tilt cameras: one for indoor use and one for outdoor security. Both cameras can rotate 360 degrees and tilt 180 degrees, so you can always check your shots.

Arlo’s new rotating cameras are the newest fully rotating security cameras on the market. Wyze recently announced a dual panoramic camera that offers a fully parallel static camera feed.

Arlo Essential cameras cost between $40 and $80, the Pro camera costs $125, the Pro XL camera costs $200, and the Ultra camera costs $200. Essential pan-tilt cameras cost between $35 and $60. All new Arlo cameras can be pre-ordered via Amazon OR Arlo website.
