Amazfit completely surprised us with its Active 2 smartwatch, which we gave five stars in our review and called it one of the best budget smartwatches money can buy. The manufacturer is now believed to be working on a premium offering in the form of the Amazfit Active Max, and a new leak has just shed more light on the upcoming device.
Interestingly, the new information does not come from an anonymous speaker or an informed analyst: no, it seems to come directly from Amazfit itself. This gives it considerable weight and suggests that the details it contains may have to do with money.
It all happened when Amazfit accidentally launched one Draft list for the Active Max smartwatch on its website, a message that has since been deleted. There, details and images suggest that the Active Max will support contactless payments with Zepp Pay and will have a 576mAh battery that should charge it for 25 days. It can monitor a variety of health and fitness parameters, including sleep quality, heart rate and SpO2 levels, and also supports BioCharge’s energy monitoring feature.
It’s not the first time we hear about the Amazfit Active Max. Just yesterday, layman Roland Quandt shared some interesting details As for the product, it would feature a 1.5-inch OLED screen, Bluetooth 5.3 compatibility, and water resistance to a depth of 50 meters. The draft listing on Amazfit’s website appears to confirm some of these details, but also offers new ones.
There is no release date yet
The Amazfit Active 2 offered incredible value for its $99 price tag, and while the Active Max is expected to be a premium device, rumors suggest it will remain affordable with an expected price of €169.90 in Europe, which could be around $169/£130/AU$250.
A starting price in this range means it’s significantly less than the $249 Apple Watch SE 3, which is one of the most affordable smartwatches on the market right now. The two devices won’t be exactly alike, but those looking for a new smartwatch on a budget may be tempted by Amazfit’s Active Max when the launch date is finally announced.
However, this was not revealed in the concept product listing and it remains to be seen when Amazfit plans to officially reveal and launch the watch. If so, what you have to offer is likely to generate a lot of interest.
