fubo yes issued a statement in the latest dispute with NBCUniversal over a carriage dispute between NBC’s most popular networks. On Friday, NBCU Networks launched Fubo for live and on-demand services. Fubo subscribers who wanted to watch NBC content received a message that read: “We are working hard to bring this channel back. We are currently negotiating with NBCUniversal and hope to bring you this channel soon.”
Fubo announced today that it has entered into good faith negotiations with NBCUniversal to renew a content agreement for its networks. However, Fubo said NBCU’s demands would hurt its customers and the streaming company did not agree to the proposed terms.
“NBCU will spin off some of its cable networks to a new company called Versant on January 1, 2026. While this is not attractive to Fubo subscribers, Fubo has offered to distribute Versant’s channels for one year. NBCU wants Fubo to sign a multi-year deal, well beyond the point where Versant’s channels will be owned by a separate company to the Fubo channel,” NBCU said. said.
The statement also accuses NBCU of discriminating against Fubo and its subscribers by allowing YouTube TV and Amazon Prime Video to integrate Peacock into popular streaming services without giving Fubo the same rights. Yesterday, Fubo said the prices and packaging terms offered by NBCUniversal were “significantly higher than those offered by other distributors.”
“Fubo decided to cancel NBCUniversal programming despite being offered the same terms that hundreds of other distributors accepted. Unfortunately, it’s the same for Fubo: they have abandoned many channels over the past few years at the expense of their customers, who continue to lose content,” an NBCUniversal spokesperson told Engadget when asked to comment on Fubo’s allegations.
The company also highlighted the top ten decliners Fubo has experienced over the past five years, including Discovery Networks and AMC. A full list of channels not yet available on Fubo can be found here.
