Dark Web Chaos Uncovers Major Italian Textile Supplier

  • Fulgar confirms ransomware attack linked to notorious RansomHouse group
  • The attackers published internal documents, including bank balances, invoices and confidential communications.
  • Among Fulgar’s customers are companies such as H&M, Adidas, Wolford and Calzedonia.

Fulgar, a long-standing manufacturer of synthetic yarns that supplies many major fashion houses, has confirmed that it has fallen victim to a ransomware attack linked to the RansomHouse group.

The attackers listed Fulgar on their escape page on November 12 and claimed to have stored encrypted data since October 31.

Screenshots shared on the leak site appeared to show internal files including documents, spreadsheets, communications and financial information, as well as data that appeared to relate to bank balances, invoices and transactions with external entities.

The global textile company is now facing monster losses

Fulgar has been a major player in the fiber market since the late 1970s, producing polyamide 66 and coated elastomers for hosiery, underwear, sportswear and technical fabrics.

The company operates the largest spinning mill in Europe and sells Lycra and Spandex in several regions, with branches in Italy, Sri Lanka and Turkey. Customers include H&M, Adidas, Wolford and Calzedonia.

The message included a warning to management; “Best Management of Fulgar SpA: We are confident that you have no interest in having your confidential information disclosed or sold to third parties. We strongly encourage you to resolve this situation.”

This stolen information can form the basis of more targeted phishing attempts based on insider information.

RansomHouse has been active since 2021 and has listed over a hundred victims on its leak page.

US cyber authorities have already linked the group to affiliates working with Iranian actors, noting that the deals include encryption support for part of the ransom.

The Fulgar breach shows once again that even large vendors can be at risk if a single ransomware group gains access to internal systems.

Identity theft protection becomes important when sensitive data is exposed, as exposed data can be reused to attack employees or partners.

Using the best antivirus software can help reduce the risk of further compromise in these uncertain times.

A properly configured firewall provides additional protection against new intrusion attempts often associated with ransomware incidents.

Despite these levels, attackers can still use leaked internal documents to create highly persuasive campaigns, putting companies in manufacturing sectors at greater risk.
