Yesterday we talked about a major update that now seems almost certain for the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, but now another major update seems significantly less likely as the availability of native magnetic wireless charging has been called into question.
This much-talked-about feature is basically similar to Apple’s MagSafe – it allows you to magnetically attach chargers and accessories to the back of the phone – but leaked images of an upcoming Samsung charger rumored for the Galaxy S26 series suggest this won’t be present.
Shared by SamMobileThe box says it’s a 25W Qi2 magnetic wireless charger, but the fine print says, “Be sure to use this charger for Galaxy phones with a Qi2-compatible case to enable charging.” So this suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will not have built-in magnets and will instead require a case with magnets to use accessories like this.
If so, this doesn’t really represent a change from the Samsung Galaxy S25 series; Although those phones achieve 15W wireless charging, we’ll likely see at least a bump in performance to 25W in one or more Galaxy S26 models. Of course, we’d take it with a grain of salt for now, but from a magnetic perspective it doesn’t look promising.
From chargers to suitcases
These are not the only leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy S26, as a reputable leaker revealed. Evan Blas We’ve also shared some case renders showing the phones inside.
There aren’t too many surprises here, however, as the designs correspond to previous leaks and are also very similar to the Samsung Galaxy S25 series. The main difference is that the rear lenses are housed in a raised camera block and do not protrude individually.
You can see that like its predecessors, the Samsung Galaxy S26 has three lenses on the back and the S26 Ultra has four, and you can also see the front of one of the phones, with a central cutout for the selfie camera.
The cases, which come from UAG, also feature circles on the back, suggesting they likely have built-in magnets, the type needed to work with the discontinued charger above.
Samsung reportedly unveiled the Galaxy S26 series on February 25, so we should find out what exactly everything is like then.
