Samsung Explores Smart Earrings and AI Wearables

Samsung is expanding its vision for wearable technology. Beyond the newly launched Galaxy Watch 8 and the upcoming Galaxy Ring 2, the company is exploring more innovative ideas, like smart earrings and smart necklaces.

In an interview with CNN (via Android Authority), Samsung mobile executive Won-joon Choi shared insights into what the next generation of wearables might look like.

“We believe these devices should be wearable—not something you carry,” Choi said. “They could be glasses, earrings, watches, rings, or even necklaces.”

New Form Factors in Development

Samsung isn’t alone in this space. Several companies are working on portable AI-powered devices. These gadgets aim to offer hands-free, always-available digital assistance.

Smart glasses are also on Samsung’s radar. While nothing official has been announced, rumors suggest the company is developing a pair to compete with Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses.

Choi acknowledged the challenge: “We are actively working on glasses, but some people don’t want to wear them because they change their look. So we’re exploring other types of devices.”

AI Integration and Battery Life

Future wearables will likely include built-in AI capabilities. OpenAI, for example, is developing a hardware device designed to keep an AI assistant with you at all times. While similar projects have struggled in the past, the interest in this space continues to grow.

Battery life will be a key factor. Samsung is already researching ways to extend battery performance to support these new devices.

What’s Next?

While there’s no confirmation yet of a Galaxy Earring or Necklace, Samsung’s interest in expanding wearable tech is clear. As innovation continues, users may soon have a wider range of wearable devices to choose from—each designed to fit different lifestyles and preferences.
