After becoming Prime Video’s number one new series in June, it’s no surprise. we were liars come back. And there are many more sources for the series based on the works of E. Lockhart.

We Were Liars Season 2: Release Date Prediction

there is none we were liars No release date has been set for season 2 yet, but we do know that the series was officially renewed on September 17, 2025, with an Instagram post revealing that the series is “coming soon.”
In a statement via The Hollywood JournalistSeries co-creators Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie said: “We loved making the show with so many wonderful people. The response from the fans has been really special. There are still many secrets hidden on Beechwood Island and we can’t wait to keep discovering them.”
The first season premiered in June 2025, one year after filming began. So if I had to predict a release date for Season 2, I’d say it won’t be late 2026 or early 2027.
We Were Liars Season 2 Trailer: Is There One?
Because the recording hasn’t started yet. we were liars There’s no trailer to share for season two, and I’m guessing it’ll stay that way for a while.
The official trailer for the first season was released a few weeks before the series premiered on Prime Video. So I don’t think we’ll be able to release a trailer until late 2026.

There are also rumors that younger versions of the Sinclair sisters will also be included in the Season 2 cast, as referenced in the same Deadline article where Lockhart confirmed the characters’ return.
While there’s no official word on these castings yet, I’ll be sure to provide an update here as soon as we find out.
We Were Liars Season 2 Plot Details and Rumors

While we were liars The first season followed E Lockhart’s novel of the same name, the second season followed his second book of the same title family of liars – with a little twist.
Speaking to Deadline, Lockhart said: “We have season two planned.” we were liarsand showrunners Julie Plec and Carina Adley Mackenzie address the current storyline family of liarsmy second book, but they also add a lot of fun new twists.
“They have a lot of ideas going on, so people know family of liars They will see everything they want to see, but they will also be surprised. I think it will be a lot of fun.
Without giving too much away, you can read the book if you want. Real I want to know what we were liars The second season is on the way, though family of liars is a prequel story referenced in the season 1 finale.
The book tells the story of a summer when the Sinclair sisters, as teenagers, became entangled in their secret on Beechwood Island.
Deadline explains: “The plan is to connect this material to stories from younger generations and also feature younger versions of the three Sinclair sisters.”
And this is directly referenced in the season one finale, when Carrie and Bess discuss whether an incident from their past, the summer of 2016, was the cause of everything that has happened to them in the present. However, the details of what they actually did during that faithful summer have been kept top secret.
There’s also the fact that even though Johnny was presumed dead along with the rest of the world’s liars at the end of the finale, that’s not the case.
Instead, Carrie sees her son for the first time in the kitchen and talks to him. But why this wasn’t revealed remains a mystery for season two.
It is not yet clear if the same can be assumed for the souls of Gath and Mirren. But Maheshwari, who played opposite Gat in Season 1, said so. Us He would be willing to come back if the opportunity arises: “If that happens, I’m absolutely prepared. I’m very prepared, but I don’t really know. It’s hard to say. I’m sure they have some ideas. I don’t know exactly what they’re thinking.”
Will there be more seasons of We Were Liars?

Lockhart again explains that even though it is a standalone book, it still has connections to the book. we were liars Universe: “The first thing I would say is that it can be read on its own, but for people who have read We Were Liars, I think they will appreciate more what starts at the beginning of the book, which is the characters invading Beechwood Island.”
We will have to wait and see if it is accepted as a spin-off, a third season or not accepted at all.
