Tell me what your favorite control of all time is

While the introduction of the new Steam Machine caught my attention, I couldn’t help but turn my attention to the rather strange console-style controller Valve has developed for the PC. It feels like an evolved version of the original Steam Controller, which was great but a little weird and relied on touchpads to really be the best PC controller on the market.

And from there comes the classic question of who was the best controller past and present. We’ve come a long way since the nintendo SNES and Sega Mega Drive game controllers, and while you could say the xbox 360 controller set the standard in the mid-2000s and early 2010s, the playstation and Xbox have great controllers today, with many third-party companies emulating their formulas.

Meanwhile, Nintendo has gone a bit more isometric with the Joy-Cons on the Switch and Switch 2, but the Switch 2 Pro controller offers a more traditional controller.

Go vote, but if you think I’ve missed any parts, let me know in the comments below.

I think my favorite controller is the Xbox Wireless Controller, especially the latest generation.

For the Xbox 2 Wireless Controller, Microsoft has improved the D-Pad over its predecessor and I love the ergonomics and feel of the controller. The size fits me perfectly.

I hate that Microsoft still requires the use of traditional batteries instead of a plug-and-play rechargeable device, even though these rechargeable packs can be purchased separately.

And while I have some retro love for the old N64 controller and a modern appreciation for the Joy-Cons, the only other competitor that catches my attention when it comes to controllers is the PlayStation DualSense controller. I love the look of the controller and I’m lucky enough to have an Elite version which is simply amazing. This would be my first choice if I didn’t prefer asymmetrical joysticks.

Again, if you have any other thoughts on this, please let us know below. But don’t forget to check the widget at the end of this article because the Black Friday deals are here and it’s a great time to get a great price on an extra controller for the console of your choice.
