At this year’s Global display Tech-Ecosystem Conference (DTC). TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. (TCL CSOT), a global leader in advanced display technology and a subsidiary of TCL Technology (000100.SZ), took the stage to highlight some of the important advances the company is making in the display world. At the heart of its innovations are major advances in inkjet printed OLED (IJP OLED), which the company has refined significantly to produce a wide range of globally unique designs.
TCL CSOT Revolutionary IJP OLED products
One of these screens was 5.65 inches. MB OLED RGB True Band display, The world’s first smartphone display with Real Stripe RGB OLED pixel architecture. This IJP OLED display achieves a revolutionary resolution of 390 PPI, with a diamond-shaped, optically equivalent pixel array reaching 490 PPI, surpassing current flagship devices.
From concept to mass production
While a technology showcase like DTC can be great for discovering cutting-edge conceptual products and technologies, the TCL CSOT doesn’t just show what its technology can do. He is willing to introduce this technology into mass production. TCL CSOT has invested in IJP OLED research and development for more than ten years. In November 2024, the company began mass production and shipping of IJP OLEDs for its “t12” production line. In October this year, the company started building the world’s first 8.6-generation IJP OLED production line, called “t8”, focusing on high-end displays for tablets, laptops and monitors.
“Our T8 production line marks a turning point for the global display industry and demonstrates the technological capability and market potential of the advanced AMOLED sector,” said Jun Zhao, senior vice president of TCL Technology and CEO of TCL CSOT. “By bringing together the entire value chain, from raw materials to final product assembly, we are building a fully integrated end-to-end industrial cluster designed to compete globally.”
TCL CSOT aims for large-scale global production with its T8 production line by the end of 2027.
TCL’s CSOT production line and IJP’s OLED advancements offer countless benefits to consumers at all levels. The production line runs efficiently, with high material consumption and minimizing waste. And the screens themselves offer excellent image quality, consume less power and emit less blue light.
TCL CSOT “APEX” Securities Framework Demo
TCL CSOT’s efforts are part of the “APEX” value framework. With this framework, TCL CSOT strives to convey the following values: “Incredible visual experience”, “Protect eye health”, “Environmentally friendly construction and use” and “Unlimited imagination potential”.
The TCL CSOT provides an incredible viewing experience with displays that deliver sharp images, vibrant colors and unique prints, including: MLED screen with the world’s sharpest image quality (163 inches) advertised in DTC. The company has integrated anti-flicker and low blue light technologies into its displays, such as: The world’s first 27-inch switchable DTM monitor with natural lightto prevent eye strain.
The company’s attention to the environment is twofold. The production process for the advanced displays uses less energy and materials and uses them efficiently. In addition, their screens consume little energy. It has spawned countless laptop-sized screens, like this one. The world’s first 0.1Hz NB screen (14″)which works well when needed, but drops to 0.1Hz when viewing static content, resulting in extreme power savings. They are 14.5 inches the world’s first NB screen in the milliwatt class At 150 nits, it only uses one watt of power. TCL CSOT has also developed these types of screens The world’s first frequency-division OLED tablet (13.2 inches)which supports adaptive refresh rates from 1 Hz to 120 Hz and dynamically adapts to content requirements to reduce power consumption by 15-25% while maintaining smooth motion, sharp details and realistic images.
The TCL CSOT also has new form factors. The company has developed a 0.28-inch single-chip full-color Si-Micro LED display with the world’s highest resolution that can be integrated into AR and VR glasses, creating a sharp, energy-efficient display in a compact size. The company has developed a 2.56-inch model for XR devices True RGB with the world’s highest PPI G-OLED screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a reliability of 1,512 PPI.
Updated AI
TCL CSOT’s on-screen enhancements are powered by AI and designed to in turn power AI. TCL CSOT has developed more than 130 AI algorithms that help automate production in factories and optimize development for high efficiency. It also relies on artificial intelligence to optimize screens, perform tasks such as automatically adjusting the environment to ensure it looks good or to save energy in different environments.
TCL CSOT will also provide compact, high-performance displays for AI glasses, which until now have been largely limited to speech only. This would enable true augmented reality capabilities for AI glasses.
Zhao looked into the future and envisioned the company’s role in it:
“We are entering a transformative era where display innovation must serve both people and the planet. With our advanced display technology brand APEX, TCL CSOT is building a comprehensive display ecosystem that embodies technological leadership. We deliver ‘big screens’ to customers and consumers around the world while contributing to a sustainable future.”
