Microsoft’s Sky Cipher Xbox Controller: Translucent Design & Eco-Friendly Packaging

Microsoft unveils yet another of its latest releases in terms of gaming accessories — the “Sky Cipher Special Edition” Xbox Controller. The new one has a much interesting feature in its design.

Unlike the previous Xbox controllers, which were at best semi-opaque in revealing their internal construction, the Sky Cipher model offers a near-complete see-through effect. The controller is mainly light blue, combined with two-tone thumbsticks, a matching D-pad, and blue metallic triggers. Only the back, grips, and buttons are not transparent, never spoiling the perfect balance between design and function.

Despite its futuristic design, the Sky Cipher controller has the same set of features as the standard Xbox Series S/X ones: 3.5mm audio jack, USB-Cability, and up to 40 hours of battery life. Noteworthy changes with the new model also include.

Microsoft has redesigned the packaging to have a reduced impact on the environment from the Sky Cipher controller. The new packaging eliminates all single-plastic use; the standard paper manual is replaced by a QR code which can be scanned to provide a link to a digital quick start guide. In addition to these changes, the packaging is 22% smaller and 21% lighter in size and weight compared to former designs, further reducing the impact of the controller on the environment.

You can preorder the Sky Cipher Xbox controller now from popular retailers such as Amazon, Target, and Microsoft, with a price of $69.99.
